I was reading in the Daily Mail this morning that Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick, has purchased a 4 bedroom duplex penthouse for over $36 million dollars. The 6,734 square foot duplex luxury penthouse is located at 565 Broome Street in SoHo. This “glass tower” apartment was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Italian architect Renzo Piano.

This luxury penthouse has its own 20 foot long heated swimming pool with a large rooftop deck, three terraces and covers 3,400 square feet. It has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The large master bedroom has 2 large walk in closets with a 260  square foot master bathroom featuring a soaking tub, heated floors and an oversized shower. As quoted by the New York Times, this was the most expensive luxury real estate sale for August.

SoHo, sometimes written Soho, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which in recent history came to the public’s attention for being the location of many artists’ lofts and art galleries, but is now better known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. The area’s history is an archetypal example of inner-city regeneration and gentrification, encompassing socioeconomic, cultural, political, and architectural developments.
